I completely meant to post this last week before Halloween, but as usual, life happened :). But no worries, because you can create these fun little arachnids anytime of the year! While I think spiders are pretty neat, I also get very scared by them 🤣 Luckily, these spiders are too cute to be frightened of…
Materials
- Paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- scissors
- glue
- markers
- pencil
Directions
- On a piece of paper, trace a big circle (for the spider’s body), and a smaller one (for the spider’s head). On the little circle, draw a little square or rectangle out of one side. This will become the flap that you’ll use to attach it to the body.
- Cut the shapes out.
3. Add googly eyes and a mouth to the spider’s head.
4. Next, take 4 pipe cleaners and twist them in the middle.
5. Secure them with a piece of tape to the big circle.
5. Fold the pipe cleaners halfway to the center so the spider will be able to stand up.
6. Lastly, fold the tab on the smaller circle and glue it to the body.
Before you know it, you and your kiddos will have the cutest spider to play with or decorate with!
This one was mine. This one was my daughter’s. They’re having a conversation about the weather. The happy little pipe cleaner family.
My daughter ended up wanting to tape some yarn to the back of her spider so that it looked like it was hanging from a web, which turned out awesome! I think this craft could go great with any songs or chants about spiders (i.e. The Itsy Betsy Spider đź•·).
It is hard to believe it is already November! We’ve got some more fun crafts and songs headed your way, so stay tuned!
Happy crafting and music making!
