We’ve got not one, but TWO pipe cleaner crafts coming at you this week! This is the first one and is sure to be a hit with your kiddos. I mean, can you wrong with pipe cleaners and paper straws? (I know the answer is “yes,” but please just humor me for a second… 🤣

Materials

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Paper straws
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Take 3 pipe cleaners and twist them together in the middle. Spread the ends out.

2. Cut the paper straws in smaller pieces (a little less than an inch worked pretty well for us).

3. Thread the straws onto the pipe cleaners, leaving enough room to twist the ends together.

4. When the pipe cleaner ends are mostly covered, bring them up to the center and twist to secure.

5. Take a green or brown pipe cleaner and twist it around the top to make a stem. Feel free to coil one of the ends.

6. Place your pipe cleaner pumpkins next to a friend and enjoy!

If your kids are old enough, you could totally use beads for this as well! I like using paper straws for my toddler because I can cut them to a size that is easier for her thread and because I know she won’t try to eat them (ha)!

I can also imagine how cute these would look with different patterned paper straws!

Alright, it is time for to sign off so that I can bucket drum with my students tomorrow morning – I don’t think I’ll need coffee 😂

Have fun crafting and music-making!
