As a kid, I was always intrigued when we’d pass by camper vans either on the road or at used car dealerships. Where were these vans headed? Where had they been? The fun thing about this craft is not only designing your own camper van, but deciding where it is traveling!

Materials

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils, markers, crayons
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue & tape
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Cut out a rectangle from a piece of paper that is roughly the size you want the van to be.
  2. Draw and color a camper van on the rectangle. I pulled up some images of camper vans on my iPad to use as a model for my daughter (and me) and then we added some characters inside!

3. Cut out the van and tape a popsicle stick to the back of it. Set this aside.

4. Draw a scene on another piece of paper with a road or path on the bottom third. This scene can be anywhere you want your camper van friends to travel! I drew a beach scene while my daughter drew the mountains.

5. Fold your paper in half (hamburger style). Cut a straight line across the the road/path part of the scene, leaving an inch at the end. This will create a slit for the popsicle stick to fit through.

6. Take another piece of paper and put glue on the outer edges of the top and sides of the paper, but not the bottom! You’ll need to leave the bottom open so the popsicle stick can slide back and forth.

7. Glue your scene on top of this paper.

8. Fit the popsicle stick end of your camper van through the slide and hit the road!

We hope you and your kiddos make some fun memories while making and playing with this craft together!

Happy crafting and music making!
