This craft actually came about last month while my daughter and I were experimenting with different materials to paint with. We were trying to make flowers out of a cardboard stamp, but they turned out looking more like fireworks, so it was only fitting that we saved it for the upcoming 4th of July 🙂

Materials

  • Blue construction paper
  • Cardboard (the thick kind works best)
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Glitter glue (optional)

Directions

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut small pieces of cardboard into pairs of rectangles. Cut notches in the middle of the pieces. We cut about 1/2 down, give or take.
  2. Push the notches together of each rectangle to create an “X.” Feel free to use tape the reinforce the stamps if they seem wobbly.

3. Dip each stamp into the different color paint. Make sure to cover the entire bottom!

4. Make sure to rotate the stamp each time you press down to create the ”firework.”

5. Continue this pattern with different color paints.

6. If you’re feeling extra fancy, add some glitter glue!

7. Hang the firework picture up for everyone to enjoy!

This craft could also work well with New Year’s celebrations or any celebration that involves fireworks!

We hope you have fun with this one and if you’re in the U.S., we wish you an early Happy 4th of July!

Happy crafting and music making!
